Antony Micallef likens himself to a mad scientist. The British artist wants to create a world where - without our knowledge - synthetic and giftedly un-pure beings slowly infiltrate our everyday consumerist onslaught. Something like a virus that infects our central nervous system and attaches itself to our optic nerves providing pornographic, seductive images across our viewing plateau. Highly pop influenced with a great deal of Basquiat in his blended, most likely alcoholic beverages Micallef provides an erotic explosion of color to play with our senses and massage our imaginations to climax. Antony Micallef has a solo show opening at Lazarides on September 9th in London. - Zach Tutor
