Casey Gray

Stencil artist extraordinaire Casey Gray is opening his very first solo show later tonight at White Walls Gallery in San Francisco.  Since first seeing Gray's work at a stencil group show last year, the artist has really seemed to find his voice, pulling in tighter compositions and color schemes within just a few short months.  Created entirely out of hand cut stencils and layers upon layers of spraypaint, Gray's work invokes a uniquely San Franciscan dialogue, incorporating many subtle SF landmarks while capturing the frenetic energy and colorful population of the City by the Bay.

To make tonight's festivities even more exciting, opening alongside Grey's "Ill Romantic" is a joint show by painters Chris Pugliese and Van Arno (HF Vol. 14) at The Shooting Gallery entitled "Fur and Feathers".  The two artists, masterful painters in their own rights, have combined forces to present an incredibly well executed showing of classical methods and unusual subjects guaranteed to bring out the animal nature in anyone.  Both shows open tonight, Saturday July 10th, and run till August 7th.  Check out the install pictures from both shows here on Hi-Fructose.
