Opening later this evening at Denver's David B. Smith Gallery is an exciting show featuring the works of AJ Fosik and Bill McRight. McRight's handmade shivs and weapons show the ingenuity of desperation and exemplify the sense of survival still found in many of today's correctional institutions and ghettos. The primitive nature of the weapons harken back to early man, and may provide the perfect counterbalance, if not tool against, Fosik's animalistic busts. Hand carved and crafted, the dazzling colors and ferocious countenances invoke a twisted vision of American Folk Art and provide the perfect antagonist, and trophies, to McRight's work.
